On the day of Kaitlyn and Paul's wedding, I'm at Tower Hill Botanic with my team. Set-up is well underway when dark and ominous storm clouds roll in. Twenty minutes later my cell phone rings. It's the groom.
"Mandy. Um, it's pouring here and I'm supposed to be walking over to the "First Look" photo spot by the old stone church. I'm sitting in my car with no umbrella - what do I do."
"Hang tight, buddy. We're tracking the storm and it looks like if you wait just 5 more minutes, it will pass."
"Are you sure? It's raining really hard here."
And that's how my role as wedding planner expanded into "Storm Tracker and iPhone Radar Expert." I love this job and all of it's layers.
And with amazing luck, the rest of Kaitlyn and Paul's wedding day was bright, warm, sunny and filled with laughter - Kaitlyn's infectious laughter that makes you happy every time you hear it, and Paul's shy laughter that comes from a place of genuine authenticity. And the laughter and happiness of all of their amazing friends and family who came together to eat, drink, celebrate and dance until the last song had faded.
I go through these weddings photos from this special day and I'm blown away by how artistically and beautifully Abby Lorenz captured the details, the private moments and the overwhelming joy of this wedding day. For a day that featured not one but two traditional and cultural wedding ceremonies, a sudden Summer rain storm and a bride's first Hora, the day was a day of happiness and stress-free fun. Thank you to Kaitlyn and Paul who could not possibly have been more fun, sweet and amazing to plan with. It was truly an honor to get to spend these months planning with you!
