Beer. Laughter. Happy Tears. Beer. Dancing. Love. Raccoons. Beer.
I could just end the blog post there having given you the perfect recap of this perfect day, but I'll expand a bit further...
Michele and Erik got engaged and knew immediately that they did NOT want a super traditional wedding with all of the "traditional bells and whistles and mandatory elements." So we set off to create a day that was fun and funky and reflective of everything that they love: great music, exceptional craft beer, close friends and family, and the deep comfort that comes of being surrounded by everyone that you love.
Thompson Island provided an amazing backdrop to this unique wedding day. Ferries were coordinated to shuttle guests to the island where they were treated to refined barbecue and seafood, extremely rare and hard-to-find craft beer options and homemade pie and cookies. For these true beer lovers, Bittersweet Gardens designed long trails of beautiful hop-filled garlands to decorate every inch of the reception space.
The only hiccup to this awesome wedding day? The custom-ordered laser cut table numbers went missing one hour before guests were scheduled to arrive for dinner. We KNEW the table numbers were on the island (we track all decor inventory with an obsessive level of attention) and we KNEW that we had seen the box with the table numbers just minutes earlier. THEY HAD TO BE CLOSE BY.
With 5 minutes to spare, we found the missing box at the bottom of a recycling bin (thank you to everyone's dedication to cleaning up and recycling the decor boxes...) underneath a small but spirited raccoon who believed that the table numbers were now his by right. After a brief but intense negotiation, we were able to scoot him out of the recycling bin, retrieve the clean and unharmed numbers and set them out as if nothing had happened. We did extend an invitation to the raccoon to join us for dancing later but he respectfully declined.
As a surprise to Erik, Michele brought in a drone videographer "Top View Aeriels" to capture not only the amazing view of the day from far overhead, but to capture close-up private moments from this beautiful day. And Channing Johnson, a true photography ninja, is responsible for all of these lovely photos.
Special thanks to DJ T-Rex for crafting a truly unique and fun musical list for the night, Josie Moran and Allison Barbera Beauty being such talented and caring stylists, the entire Thompson Island staff for being so darn good at what you do and, of course, to the Hummingbird Bridal Team of Boston wedding planners for never batting an eyelash when called in to assist with raccoon negotiations.
